Jenna Bennett’s blog post on her life in books made me want to join in. It’s fun to answer these questions based on titles you read in 2012 and try not to repeat any titles.
Describe yourself: Fortune’s Hero (Jenna Bennett)
How do you feel: Between Shades of Gray (Ruta Sepetys)
Describe where you currently live: The Fault in Our Stars (John Green)
If you could go anywhere, where would you go: The Future of Us (Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler)
Your favorite form of transportation: If Fried Chicken Could Fly (Paige Shelton)
Your best friend is: Second Sight (Cheryl Klein)
You and your friends are: Immortal Beloved (Cate Tiernan)
What’s the weather like: The Book of Lies (Brad Meltzer)
You fear: Market or Die (Jennifer Fusco)
What is the best advice you have to give: Live to Tell (Lisa Gardner)
Thought for the day: Deadline (Chris Crutcher)
How I would like to die: Nightshade (Andrea Cremer)
My soul’s present condition: Timeless (Gail Carriger)
Lots of amazing books didn’t make it on here because the titles didn’t quite work as responses. Made me realize how many books I got to in 2012 and how many more I want to read in 2013.
If you decide to play the My Life in Books game, let me know. Or if you have one perfect title for a question, please post it below, I’d love to read it!

Looks like fun to try. I’m afraid (and ashamed) I didn’t read that many books this year. Guess I need to up my game!

It really was. Lots of books just didn’t work for the questions. Some I had to play around with.

Thanks. It was a bit of a challenge. Thank goodness I write book reviews for most of the books I read. I could look the past year’s reads up pretty fast.
It was a neat little game.

That would be cool too.
Adopt the game to your medium. It would be interesting to see what a painter or a sculptor would do with this game.
LOL. I borrowed it from Jenna’s blog–she started a tidal wave of inspiration.

This is so much fun! Thanks for the idea – I’ll present it to my writing group next week. I’ll play a little here – under Fear: THE RIGHT WRONG MAN (okay, yes, I just e-published it). Under You and Your Friends Are: PROOF OF HEAVEN; under How I would like to die: THE SENSE OF AN ENDING. :+)

It’s a fun way to talk about the books you’ve read.
Cool responses! Hope your writing group enjoys the game.

What a fun exercise. I may have to give this a go in the future. I’ll bookmark your page in case I need a blog post idea down the road.

It was a nice way to look back at 2012′s reading list and realize how much I accomplished. LOL. I keep a running list on a post-it of possible post topics. Just in case I have a lull in topics.

Well, if Kathlis can be so honest, so can I—I didn’t read that many, either. *hangs head in shame*
Maybe this year I can be better about that.

Aw it’s okay JM. It’s hard to balance everything. I’m a fast reader so that helps. But I want to read hundreds of books a year and I’m lucky if I get through 25. My crit partner sets aside time during lunch and breakfast for reading 20 pages. In a month she’s got a novel read.

Cool idea. How do I feel? Something Like Normal (by Trish Doller).
Oh and i thought Deadline was a great book!
January 28, 2013 at 4:20 pm
Kourtney Heintz
LOL. Great answer. I loved Deadline. I cried and cried and then I smiled through the tears because I read such a terrific book. Crutcher is someone I want to read more of. I’ve been trying to expose myself to as many different writers as I can but I really want to get back to one of his books–they are such a beautiful experience.

Cool game! That was fun to read through. Did it take you forever to figure out your answers, or did you just snap those off the top of your head?
January 28, 2013 at 4:36 pm
Kourtney Heintz
It’s pretty neat.
It took me a bit of time. I write reviews for most of the books I read but not all of them. So I skimmed through my book reviews and tried to find titles to fit the answers. If I couldn’t, I went to my bookshelves for the remainder. Took maybe 20 minutes.

Fun game. I didn’t read that many books last year, but the ones I did read are difficult to work into the list. Definitely a thinker.

I had to get creative to make some titles work. I couldn’t use half the books I read. They just didn’t work.
But it was fun to try.

Glad you liked it! Awesome. I love this game. Thanks for giving Jenna credit cause I “borrowed” it from her.
Loved your books–definitely want to read them. Last year I read a ton of YA because I was writing YA.

How much fun. Cat’s right: music would work, too…and I like the ideas of paintings/artists. Thanks for sharing

It’s cool how we can expand it to all art forms. Music is so fun especially song titles, though it would be challenging to remember all the songs I heard last year. Thank goodness iTunes keeps track of what I purchased.

It’s not so hard if you write reviews or use Goodreads to keep track of what you read. Otherwise, it’s a bit more time consuming.

How clever you are
I’d love to do this, and will tuck it away for a later time when I can devote appropriate time and thought to the exercise. In the meantime I have a whole new list of books to add to my ‘to read’ list
